چکیده
Objective: Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (CSVT) is increasingly recognized in children with advanced use of neuroimaging techniques. In this study, we aimed to present clinical and radiologic features CSVT children. Material Methods: Children aged 1 month 18 years old diagnosed were retrospectively analyzed. Demographic data patients including age at diagnosis, sex, presenting symptoms signs, risk factors for thrombosis, treatment prognosis collected. Results: Twelve included the 8 them male. Headache (n=7), seizures (n=5) visual impairment (n=4) most common symptoms. The superficial venous system was involved all patients, five deep also involved. Parenchymal involvement three patients. Two had isolated cortical vein thrombosis. All underlying factors. Five recent infections, six Behçet’s disease, mastoiditis. High lipoprotein (a) level found two One patient a diagnosis acute lymphoblastic leukemia received l-asparaginase treatment. treated anticoagulants. tissue plasminogen activator, complicated intracranial bleeding. Three parenchymal moderate severe motor impairment. seizure followed up epilepsy. Conclusion: causes significant morbidity. Especially older CSVT, signs disease should be questioned. Mastoiditis still an important reason

متن کاملCerebral sinovenous thrombosis in children: clinical presentation and extension, localization and recanalization of thrombosis.
Many important questions regarding pathophysiology and treatment of cerebral sinovenous thrombosis need clarification and may depend on further knowledge on the etiology, site, extension and recanalization of the thrombosis. We studied these variables in a cohort of children and adolescents from seven Portuguese Centers. We conclude from our results that the deep venous system and the superior ...
متن کاملCerebral Sinovenous Thrombosis
Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (CSVT) is a rare but serious cerebrovascular disorder affecting children from the newborn period through childhood and adolescence. The incidence is estimated at 0.6/100,000/year, with 30-50% occurring in newborns. Causes are diverse and are highly age dependent. Acute systemic illness is the dominant risk factor among newborns. In childhood CSVT, acute infections...
متن کاملCerebral sinovenous thrombosis during asparaginase treatment
A boy (age: 71/12 years) with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia developed thrombosis of the sinus sagitalis superior with secondary haemorrhagic infarction while on induction treatment with vincristine, prednisone, and asparaginase. Based on this report, the potential pathogenic mechanisms are discussed with respect to congenital prothrombotic defects as well as to the role of antileukaemic treatme...
متن کاملcerebral sinovenous thrombosis (csvt) in a neonate with different manifestations
cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (csvt) is increasingly diagnosed in neonates. despite many studies which have addressed diagnosis and management of pediatric csvt, diagnosis of cvsd in neonates is difficult. a female neonate born by natural vaginal delivery was diagnosed with csvt after initiation of seizure. the seizure was stabilized and after performing diagnostic tests, the diagnosis of csvt...
